Step 1) Explore and Organize Your History

What: You complete a guided survey of the themes and events in your life or that of the interview subject, to help determine what you want to focus on most in the story, whom you want interviewed for the biography, and which materials, such as photos or home movies, you would like to see incorporated into the final product. Then, working with a Client Services Manager, you examine the various production options available for the project, resulting in a “Project Overview” for your biography.

How: The first step is to visit our Getting Started page and receive your copy of the Biography Planning Guide. This helps you develop your goals and ideas for your biography. Then set up an appointment with a BoehmGroup Client Services Manager, who helps you organize an interview outline, determine how you want the interviews conducted, and plan the entire process from the interviews through the production of your biography.

Why: Both personal and business histories are developed from decades of experiences. It can be a challenge to organize and prioritize all of this information. Also, in most cases you don’t have the publishing or audio/video production knowledge needed to plan an efficient biography.
