Audio Biographies Print

Your options for an audio biography (also called an “oral history”) are simpler than for the other media.   An audio biography consists of a professional biographer or oral historian expertly interviewing one or more biography subjects, drawing out the stories the company wishes to preserve.  The project might also include editing the recordings or a written transcript of the interviews.

What can be done in the format of an audio biography?  Some examples…

After its first seven years in business, a smaller company chose to meet for three hours with a biographer and record a quick, well-planned synopsis of their startup years. They also repeat the interviewing process each year to preserve their business experiences as time goes by and the company grows.

A fairly large civil engineering firm commissions a one-hour recorded interview with the project manager/lead estimator of every major building project they complete. These are then transcribed and preserved along with other records and blueprints from the project.

Another, larger company commissions an interview with any retiring employee who has seven or more years of experience.  They preserve the recordings for internal training as well as for a book they plan to create for their fiftieth anniversary.
