 | Video is a fantastic medium for telling your story or having a family member do so. With modern digital production, ours is the first generation that can afford to create broadcast-quality movies about our lives. You can include family photos in a slide show, narration, music, old home movies transferred to digital video, and many other visual mementos from your life. Also, on-camera interviews can be very candid, allowing your viewer to see your expressions and hear your voice as you answer the interview questions. What can be done in the format of a video biography? Some examples… A man and his son organized a selection of family photographs for the man’s wife, from his marriage through their lives as parents, and created a slide show/movie. A biographer helped them create a script that they read as a narration for the movie, a documentary of the couple’s relationship, for their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Another man sat down and told his life story in a videotaped interview with a live interviewer. Thematic music and photographs from his life were edited into the video. Being interviewed live enables his young children and eventually his grandchildren to see him as a younger man and understand the way he came across in the prime of his life.
